Drug Delivery System

Drug delivery is a term that refers to the administering of a pharmaceutical ingredient in humans or animals via oral, nasal, dermal and rectal routes. One of the major constraints in the existing drug delivery systems is the dispensing of drug at infected site. This determines the actual concentration of the drug available at infected site and hence its efficacy. The use of a proper vehicle which can transfer the active ingredient at the right concentration to the receptor site is a major challenge in designing the novel drug delivery system.

Polymers are used extensively as drug delivery vehicles since they are relatively inert. However these polymers being polydisperse in nature are not most ideal candidates for a drug delivery system. We at Bioplus have developed a novel monodisperse polymeric drug delivery vehicle which can perform as both as the targeted as well as sustained release drug delivery systems. Our system ensures increased bioavailability of the drug at the required site.
